Product Reviews – Carcinogen-free Shampoo

I have tried four paraben-free and SLS-free shampoos in the last month. In order, they were:

The first three all had the same problem – they left my hair too greasy. I have mildly oily hair and these products did not do enough to get rid of the natural oil on my scalp. I guess the absence of SLS makes them much gentler. The last entry was the Green Beaver shampoo and I really, really like it. I bought the conditioner and I use both quite happily now. Admittedly they aren’t as good as chemical shampoo but the difference isn’t that huge. The best part is that my outrageously expensive taste in chemical hair products makes the Green Beaver stuff a good deal. I think I am going to try and track down bigger bottles to save the environment some plastic.

My husband likes the Giovanni and the Green Beaver but the Curelle is too gentle for him and the Prairie Naturals is too harsh.

Next on the list of products to switch – eyeshadow primer and smoothing hair cream. (Yes, the Rain City Gardener wears make-up every day. Shocking, I know.)
